Today, I’m looking back to 2015 and my first attempts at actual writing. Considering all that had to happen before I got to this point, it still feels strange to reflect on what was probably the breaking point for me.

Writing tool review: betareader.io
Since I’ve had good results with finding beta readers on betareader.io, I’ve decided to write a review of this webtool – maybe someone will find it as useful as I did.
Note: this article/guide was written in 2019. The appearance of some elements probably changed since. As I established a small circle of beta readers afterward, I haven’t been checking the site as much since 2020. Feel free to report any outdated information in the comment section if you do use the site.
Continue readingAugust hiking pt.3: Place I love
The Slovakian ‘Malá Fatra’ mountain range is a place where I’ve walked most of the main trails and a good deal of the side trails – and I still love to return there.
Continue readingHow I got to writing, part two
In the second part of sharing my story, I’m looking back at the early 2010s – the time that eventually nudged me towards giving writing a try. Yet, the path to that was far from simple…
Continue readingWriting: analyzing beta feedback
As I am in beta stage, I’ve decided to try sharing my experience in the form of some insight/advice. So, in this post, I’ll look at some selected cases and what you can get from them.
For the purpose of this post, I’ll ignore grammar/typo issues as there’s not much to analyze.

A few times, I’ve promised a look back on how I got to writing. The time for my grand confession has come. Today, I’ll share the first part of this story: a look back to the 2000s, when the first ideas for my in-development story came to be; into a time when actual writing was still a distant future I did not even dare to see.
Continue readingWriting: a professional’s opinion on my story
Despite having poor luck on any kind of giveaways, I had entered one for a professional beta read of my current draft. With a twist of luck, just as I managed to find beta readers (I talked about it in my monthly ‘report’), I actually won – leading me to think how I might handle feedback from four sources, each with different pacing and approach. At the end of the previous month (Friday 30.8.), I’ve received the report file – but as I was preparing for the next day’s hike, actually looking on it had to wait for two days. So, what is a professional’s opinion on my story?
Continue readingAugust hiking pt.1: Leader just in name?
Something I mentioned earlier this year was that I was about to co-lead a week-long hiking event for a group of people. Now that it’s behind me, let’s have a look at how my time off went – with a some photos included.
Continue readingFantasy thoughts: challenges of longevity
Fantasy literature often features creatures with lifespan significantly exceeding the lifespan of a human. In today’s post, I’ll look into some of the challenges it brings.
Warning: this post will be heavy on biological aspects of procreation. If you are afraid of science mingling with fiction, or uncomfortable around procreational topics, you might want to walk away.
