Forging a character: Tyr’eshal

Posted on August 9, 2020 by Tomas

After exploring most main and some second-tier characters, I’m coming around to the story of forging the very MC – and definitely the longest ‘making of’ story.

Forging characters: the Marshwalkers

Posted on January 22, 2020 by Tomas

This time, I’ll look into the creation of not one, but three characters: the Marshwalker family, for the simple reason they’ve been created together.

Forging a character: Captain Damian

Posted on June 26, 2019 by Tomas

In my elf-centric story, Captain Damian was the first major human character. Even though his beginnings were humble (regarding his presence in the story), he became a major supporting character. Today, I’ll look into the process of creating him.

Forging a character: Queen Illeana

Posted on June 11, 2019 by Tomas

The queen was, for a long time, a minor character compared to the role of her husband, King Venelaos, or her daughter, Princess Nadyenne. Yet, as I developed the backstory, she gained some degree of importance – not one to take her to the spotlight but one that makes her an integral part of the story due to her heritage.

Forging a character: Etian Windwalker

Posted on May 14, 2019 by Tomas

Forging a character: Ellisia

Posted on April 19, 2019 by Tomas

The development of Ellisia mirorred that of Kraasian Darkwood for a long time. They were a pair from the start and they develped as one. Eventually, there were some other aspects I managed to show through her.

Forging a character: King Venelaos

Posted on April 2, 2019 by Tomas

Today, I return to share some background about developing a character. King Venelaos is one of the oldest characters in my work-in-progress fantasy. After all, what kind of fantasy world does not have someone to rule it? And, as it is with the oldest characters, he had a lot of time to grow.

Forging a character: Major Elindra

Posted on March 15, 2019 by Tomas

Some characters appear out of nowhere, created by a whim of unpredictable imagination. Elindra is one of those. In this post, I’ll share how she became a part of the story.

Forging a character: Shianna

Posted on February 15, 2019 by Tomas

This time, I’ll share the background of creating a character who eventually became more involved with the story than I expected – though, in reality, I probably should’ve seen that coming.

Forging a character: General Vigellus

Posted on January 20, 2019 by Tomas

I am back with another blog post about the development of a character. This time, I’ll cover one with probably the most-developed backstory: General Vigellus Ironhand.
