While the month only ends tomorrow, with one (work) day to go, I don’t expect anything big enough to sway my judgment of this month to happen, so let’s get to it.
August was a month when the structure of previous months went quite out the window. In all the main things I tend to mention here.
First, I haven’t read anything in the traditional sense. I mentioned at the end of the last summary that I picked up a beta read, and that was a good chunk of my reading, though the progress hasn’t been as fast as I initially hoped, for reasons unrelated to the book itself. Between that, I was also going through some passages of my project, hoping for some further ideas on improving the scenes that still need work. For which I had some, but didn’t have as much time as I hoped to actually write them, and managed only some small edits. At this point, I’m leaning towards focusing on the beta read. As I mentioned before, I tend to have weird dreams that merge scenes from different books if I read more than one at a time, and I’d prefer to avoid that for now.
Hiking also went through a slightly different structure this time, given that I was in charge of the hiking club’s week-long hiking trip the second week of the month. I didn’t go the weekend before, as the weather was a bit tricky, and the week after, to get some rest, which ended up with the total being the week-long trip and a single one-day hike the final weekend of the month (yesterday).
I was originally considering posting the first part of my thoughts from the trip last week, but sorting out the photos wasn’t complete, so I decided to leave it for September. As usual, I’ll share a teaser photo.

With the summer nearing its end, the best part was that the extremely hot days aren’t as numerous as they were in late June and early July, though it still is quite warm most of the time. That said, I hope September will still have a lot of good weather to enjoy.
So, that’s a quick monthly round-up. Another month is just a couple of steps away, with whatever it brings, which I hope to be nice and pleasant. Until then…
