September was a busy month, with a lot of ups and downs and sudden changes. Let’s have a look.
September was dominated by quite a busy period at work, which led me to shift some priorities in my everyday life. More than usual, I focused on prioritizing good sleep and relaxing at home, and it also led me to look forward to the active parts of my weekends. September was still quite a warm and sunny month for the most part, which definitely helped.
I finished the beta read I started in late July in early September, so that was one longer task off the list.
The first weekend of September is when the town has a two-day music festival, and I went to see two bands on Friday, one of which I’d seen live more than a decade ago. Their set was a bit shorter than I hoped, but I still enjoyed it.
In the coming days, I returned to reading and continued with the series I started in July, finishing books #3 and #4, for which I had already posted the reviews in the previous weeks. Unfortunately, being busy at work and mentally tired meant that writing was, once again, put on hold.
When it comes to hiking, September tends to be tricky – the mornings are cold and often foggy, but the days are still warm, so I often ended up leaving the house in several layers but shedding them quickly once I was moving. I’ll cover these hikes in more detail separately, as usual. For now, a teaser photo:

When I mentioned ups and downs and sudden changes, the original plan was that I’d go for a couple of days in the hills with my sister, her BFF, and her BFF’s partner. At first, we planned four days, then shortened it to two because my sister and her BFF are already running out of PTO at work. Unfortunately, it was cancelled completely as my sister’s BFF had a death in her family. So, we’ve had to delay this plan once again, though it at least eased my nerves when it came to taking care of the urgent stuff at work.
With that in mind, I hope October will be calmer for me – by now, the trees are starting to change colors, which is always a good time for enjoying time outdoors despite the declining temperature.
So, that’s a quick monthly summary. I hope your September went well. Until next time…
