April was a month with fair weather that allowed me some good hiking time, as well as contributing to a good mood, but it wasn’t without its own challenges.
As I said in the March summary, the last weekend brought some unexpected snow to the hills. I decided to take advantage of that and set out for a “farewell to snow” hike. Given the sunny day, especially in the first half, it turned out to feel unexpectedly warm. As usual, I’ll mention more about that hike, as well as the others, in a separate post, but I’ll share a teaser photo for now.

In the lowlands, the weather was much more spring-like, with the days getting warmer, though the mornings were still quite chilly. This brings the part I don’t like much – wearing several layers in the morning going to work, and having to carry them on my way home. I was still quite busy at work, which only made me look forward more towards weekends and spending some active time outdoors. Despite my long-term plan to keep one weekend free, I managed to go hiking all four weekends.
I’m also trying to change my habits a bit, and use my commute to work for reading rather than being on my phone, and read more, even if just 2-3 chapters, before sleep. This is something that acts like a tide for me, waves with ups and downs, but I’m getting there.
When it comes to reading, after finishing the book I reviewed earlier in the month, I finally got to what I planned earlier, to do an uninterrupted full read of my current working draft – in the past, I’ve been editing specific points, but this led to lacking the full picture for other things, and so I decided a full read is in order. This bore some fruit and I have several notes and ideas for future changes, and it’ll be my May goal to work on those as I’ve finished that read at the very end of April.
With some hope, May will be a productive month, though I’ll make sure to have some rest, both active outdoors and at home. That’s it from me for now, and I hope May will be a god month for you as well.
