3/2024 Summary

March had seen me in a good spot in many aspects, though there’s also room for improvement.

As is the theme of the year so far, I’ve been keeping up with my hiking quite well, and much above expectations. The weather became much better in March than it was in January and February, especially when it came to rain, which wasn’t as frequent.

Hiking will get its own post soon, as usual, but for now, I can see I managed to go hiking every single weekend (keeping the streak since the beginning of the year) and have a lead of around 50km compared to the previous year. March was also plentiful when it comes to blooming flowers, which were a frequent subject of my photos. The individual hikes were varied, as was the weather, and while I avoided full-day rain, I was hit by a short thunderstorm at the end of the month, another proof of the climate going insane more and more.

I intended to read more on the way from my hikes given the lengthening days, but this has turned out to be a flop – not just because I tend to be drowsy, but because my 8-years-old Kindle is nearing the end of its lifespan, judging by the fact the battery capacity is going downhill and if often loses charge fast even when not used. I do try to read more at least on my afternoon commute and I’ll be looking at the various versions to get a new Kindle soon. Despite that, I managed to get some reading done, even though I’m barely keeping up with my 20 books a year goal.

Aside from that, I’ve been facing some hectic days at work mid-month (so the Easter break was welcome) and, at the end of the month, I was putting together suggestions for the hiking club and our 2025 plan.

So, that’s the summary of my March. The first quarter of 2024 is over, and I hope the next one will be at least just as good.
