2/2026 Summary

February is over, and I admit I’m glad for that, because it was quite a bleak month for me.

The month didn’t start that poorly right away, butit quickly turned draining by the gloomy and ever-changing weather. Snow that lasted a couple of days, only to melt soon after, often with rain showers, and repeating the process. All with almost no sunlight. February often tends to be a tricky month, especially when it comes to planning hikes, and this is one of the reasons, but it felt gloomier than usual this year.

Because of this unpredictable weather, I didn’t do any hikes on my own – especially as I was struggling with a light cold in the second half of the month – and only went on the two hikes with the hiking club, which were light walks around the suburbs rather than serious hikes – a typical thing for us given the unpredictability of February weather.

In the meantime, I also had some busy time at work, which helped me to keep my mind busy while in the office, but also contributed to me feeling tired, and I often wasn’t in the mood for anything when I returned home. Despite that, I managed to finish reading the series I started reading in January. Deciding how to go on was a bit harder, and I only ended up making a decision at the very end of the month.

My original plan – to start a proofread of my own work – was also put on hold, though I checked a couple of scenes and made some minor corrections on one weekend, but that was it. I was hoping to give it a couple of days mid-month, but I ended up having issues with my sleep for three days, and that didn’t exactly help my already tired mind.

Fortunately, things have started to turn for the better at the end of the month – the weather improved, and so did my mood along with it. The forecast for March looks promising, and I hope to get some strength from it. Early spring is an interesting time for hiking, given that nature is yet to fully wake up from its winter rest, but you can feel the slow awakening already with the first flowers and longer days.

So, that’s a quick summary of the last month. I hope yours was much better than mine, and that March will have something nice in store for us.
