9/2025 Summary

September still isn’t exactly over, but the two final days next week won’t likely change my judgment of the month too much, so let’s get to it.

September is often among my favorite months – the end of summer means it’s warm, but not too much, and towards the end, nature starts to shift towards autumn colors. This year, however, the weather has been quite unpredictable. Despite that, it held out well enough for weekends – the first one was a concert the town does as an anniversary celebration, and the other three weekends were spent hiking, as is my usual habit, so I’m still keeping up with my goal for the year of having three hikes a month, with the fourth weekend being primarily for some other entertainment.

As usual, those three hikes will get their own post soon. As usual, a teaser photo for now:

In the middle of the month, I had a week off scheduled from work. This was originally intended to be my main holiday for this year, but the Dolomites trip changed that, so I used a chunk of that to prepare materials and maps for the hiking club’s next year’s events. I admit that it was more practical to be able to do it in the mornings, rather than the afternoons or weekends, as I often did in previous years.

On the reading front, I’ve been making steady progress. I finished one book and the other is close to being finished, so I’m on track with my reading goal for the year. Given that my current read is a part of a series, and the author has written more, as well as discovering another author I’ve read before releasing more books, this makes my decision regarding the next reads a bit easier.

When it comes to writing, I was making some slow but steady progress with further edits in the first half of the month, and during the second part of my week off. Many major edits were done, and I turned my attention to some smaller edits like improving dialogue structure, which is something that takes a lot of time, yet the progress feels barely noticeable. I put writing a bit aside in the last days, letting me recharge, with plans to resume working on it soon, after I take care of some things my life demands from me in the coming week.

So, that’s a look back at September. As usual, I’m looking at October with cautious optimism and the anticipation of colorful photos on my autumn hikes. Here’s wishing your October goes well. Until next time.
