This August was a decent month, with several nice hikes and a bit more time put into writing, but also a lull in reading and some distractions. Let’s have a look.
The month began with the rainy end of my holiday in Italy, which I described already. As I mentioned in July, I have noted down some writing ideas, and as I had two days before returning to work, I started developing some of them in the form of various minor edits. I also received another batch of feedback that I managed to somewhat process, and have some further ideas, though my writing is still slow. But the fact I have some direction and ideas is a good hint, and I hope that I’ll be able to do more in the coming weeks and months.
The second weekend, I went on a short hike nearby, given that the forecast wasn’t that great. Instead of the landscape, I kept my head down for a good part, as the rain from the previous week had caused mushrooms to grow, and some of them made for quite picturesque shots.

During the next week, I also started to read another book, and made nice progress in the first week. During the weekend, I also took a small group from the hiking club for an extra hike to an area I visited some 6 years ago and had fond memories of.
The following week, my attention was divided between many things, which included some further writing, but also enjoying the new patch content in World of Warcraft and watching information from Gamescom, where they revealed some details about the next expansion planned for early 2026. This put my reading on halt for a good part of the week, and while I skipped a hike during the weekend, the extra time was mostly spent on gaming and writing.
I managed to resume reading more in the month’s final week, though I finished the book only today (more in a review coming later). Also, the last Saturday of the month was spent on one more hike, where we got quite lucky with the weather (despite the forecast). As usual, I’ll share more from the hikes soon enough, with plenty of pictures.
So, that’s what I was up to in the last month. I’m keeping my hopes up for September, even though I have no specific plans yet. So, I hope the month was good for you as well, and that the final weeks of summer will still have something nice prepared for us.
