In August, summer was back in its full, relentless force, with a weather that was maybe too good for some outdoorsy time.
That said, the weather was a bit unpredictable at first. I decided to skip a hike the very first weekend, though I went rollerblading instead. Almost exactly a year since the last time which, back then, had a bit different backstory.
The second week, I went for a week-long hiking trip. This one was to be lighter on the difficulty but promised some nice places. I used the long journey on the way to read, finishing the book I started to read in late July on my way and started with the third book in the series, which I read at the hotel during the evenings (I posted the review last week). I’ll go into more detail about the holiday in the coming weeks. For now, I’ll share a teaser photo.

The whole week was in sunny and warm weather – I didn’t even use the boots, it was warm enough for sandals the whole time. Rain only arrived once we were on our way home. At that point, I decided to take a break from reading and just watched the rain pass in waves as the landscape changed at a high pace. Even with a good portion of the journey being on a highway, it still took almost 8 hours.
The week after was the typical after-holiday rush and catching up with what went on at work which, fortunately, wasn’t as much. I did feel renewed, which helped me to tackle tasks at work quite efficiently. Eventually, I started my progress on the fourth and final book of the series, though not at as high pace as I did on my holiday, and by the end of the month, I was almost finished with the final book.
The following Saturday, I went on a hike with my sister, using this for some family bonding and sharing our burdens while the surrounding landscape brightened our spirit (though the heat was annoying).

The end of the month also saw the release of the latest World of Warcraft expansion, so I spent some time playing games, though I didn’t overdo it as much as some other years.
At the very end of the month, I even did a bit of writing, a whole two scenes – a far cry from my best days but, as I said, I’ve been struggling with motivation for quite a while and it seems the reason comes from things not related with writing.
The last weekend of the month – yesterday – was spent on another hike where I enjoyed a good deal of summer-like weather. Way too much, possibly, as I struggled with overheating at the end.
So, that’s a quick look back at my August. There’s a lot I’m looking forward to in September, so I hope things work out – for me and you alike.
