6/2024 Summary

June was a tricky month for me, with quite some challenges but also hints of good things.

The end of May had me feeling unwell, so the first down was that, right at the start of the month, I decided to skip going on a hike – thus ending the streak at 5 months. The day of break wasn’t wasted, though, as I finally got back to writing a bit, making some further changes to the intro of book two with the ideas I had in May. These ideas are still relatively undeveloped in many aspects, but I’m glad I’ve managed to find my direction after so long.

Later in the month, I asked one of my beta readers for feedback on the ideas I had, and the answers I received were promising, so I’ll try to keep going during July and maybe ask my other beta readers at some point when I make some further changes.

Meanwhile, the next weekend saw me return to hiking. This still wasn’t easy – it was a hot day and I was on medication, but I wasn’t willing to pass up another nice day. What I did was adjust my pace and stick with the group. That way, I managed just fine.

The weather had its ups and downs through the month, which made planning things tricky. Thus, my next hike was done close to home, in case the summer storms struck. I used the warmer week to do some thorough cleaning at home, knowing that things would dry faster in a sunny day.

The final club hike before the summer holiday turned out to be quite tricky – while a month ago, we were lucky, and the rain and storm missed us, this time, the situation was the opposite – the rain and storms seemed to choose the same mountain as we did. MIserable conditions for hiking to some, but the few of us taking the longest trail (decided before the rain arrived, of course) managed it with some care just fine. At least it was warm, including the rain, so it was bearable.

The final week was a bit hectic at work and I contemplated skipping a hike again, but eventually decided to go for it, despite the heat, and went on an easy loop through the woods – a hike where I ended up keeping a very brisk pace because I was constantly pestered by bugs and flies (by a great deal probably because I was alone on those trails).

I also managed to get some reading done – aside from one full re-read and partial re-read of another book, I managed one new book and started another at the end of the month.

So, that’s a look back at the last month for me. I hope the beginning summer will be pleasant – for both me and you.
