7/2023 Summary

Even though there’s a day still left in July, I’m already looking back on the month. It had its ups and downs but mostly continued the trend of my previous past 2-3 months.

Reading

Reading has slowed down for me somewhat – I’ve read one book and started the second, but I’ve been slow in reading. Maybe it’s the hot summer weather that bears the risk of making me drowsy or outright sleepy during such an activity. I’ll try to remedy this in the coming month.

Writing

Writing is also still in a slump. I rewrote the prologue of book two a bit, but it’ll need some further work. I’m still figuring out how to adjust the early portion of book two with the feedback I received recently, and have some ideas floating around, but they aren’t specific enough yet. I’ve written one new scene and a bit of the next. Right now, I’m hoping that the week-long hiking trip next month will help me restart my imagination and give me more ideas.

Hiking

July was an eventful month when it comes to hiking. I had one group hike, two hikes with my parents (one with my father, one with my mother), and two solo hikes I used to push myself. I set my new personal record for distance, only a month short of 10 years since the previous one.

During the hikes, I faced mostly immense heat and sunburns. But those are stories for another time. I seem to have fallen behind when it comes to sharing the stories and photos from my recent hikes, but I’ll try to catch up in the coming weeks.

So, that’s a quick look back at July. There wasn’t anything noteworthy in my everyday life, which I tend to see as a good sign.

I hope your summer is going well – and that it’ll be nice to you in its second half, too.
