5/2023 Summary

May had passed by – and it had surprised me in many aspects. Both good and bad. Let’s have a look.

Reading

As in the previous month, I’ve read two books, which isn’t much, but at least it’s consistent. I had finished the series I was reading, so now I’m at the dreaded stage of choosing what to read next. I have some samples downloaded on my Kindle, so that could help me decide…

Writing

On hold for now. I’m receiving feedback from one reader, but holding off edits until probably mid-to-late June. I’m still stuck sorting out details for the end of book 3 as well as the issues I was told about for book two – the situation is that I have some vague ideas but I can’t seem to grasp them in a way that’d help me get a move on it.

Maybe I’ll need to just get to it and try, even if my attempts fail, rather than overthinking it…

Hiking

May ended up being quite active. Three one-day hikes and one three-day trip got me to 132km, which makes the best May ever in my lifetime (beating the previous year by 13km). And that’s by (as typical for this year) skipping one weekend.

The cause was a bit surprising: I was helping my grandma in her garden mid-week on a warm day. I left clothed light, but the evening turned windy and colder than I expected and I ended up with a cold. This was two days before one of the hikes, which I powered through (it was club hike I was leading, so I couldn’t just skip on such short notice), but decided to rest the next weekend, despite the nice weather.

I’ll share details from those hikes soon.

Personal

I’ve been to a concert, after some time. And getting home ended up being a bit more challenging than expected as the first band started with a 30-minute delay which threw everything off the schedule and impacted my return journey. The 7 stops in a tram crammed to the brim were uncomfortable but better than missing it and then the follow-up bus that would have me wait for 1,5 hours for the next one – on a night that wasn’t too warm yet at this time of the year.

So, that’s the summary of the last month. I hope that the good parts stay into June and that I’ll manage to improve on the others in June. Wishing you the best with your goals as well.

See you soon.
